Better billboards

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Thanks to user feedback, the billboard GOG has improved a whole lot. The billboard generator page is now linking to user generators that people have added, such as this one:

awesome users

Of course you can still make generators for private use, having them listed is optional. Please continue giving us your thoughts, it helps a lot.

3D logo generator takes off

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Got a 2D logo you’d like to make a little less … flat? Blender is a handy tool for adding the third dimension to your creations. Now you can get an idea of the possibilities with our 3D Logo Generator. You upload a black and white picture, and get out a 3D version of it, like this:

If you know Blender, you can download the .blend file we create and use it as a starting point for your own customized design. If you don’t know Blender, well, stay tuned, there’s more to come.

Heart shower animation for Valentine’s day

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

We recently added a new design for Valentine’s day (coming up next month) - a shower of hearts set against the rising sun:

By the way, all picture mixer designs now give the code needed to embed them directly in your site or blog.

Enjoy! We should probably do a design for anti-Valentine’s day too…

Billboards by the Billion

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Happy New Year! We’re happy to see that while we were on vacation, a bunch of folks decided to try out our Billboard GOG. (A GOG is a Generator of Generators; our Billboard GOG lets you create your own generator for putting pictures or text on a billboard).

The results are encouraging, and we appreciate the feedback we’ve been getting. We’re working on the following improvements:

  • Making the picture size flexible, and increasing the visible scale during design.
  • Making it clearer how to embed the resulting generators on your own website or blog.
  • Letting people show off their generators on MakeSweet itself if they want to.

Thanks for playing!
