Tattoo preview

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Since our shoulder tattoo picture mixer design was getting some interest, we’ve added a more powerful back tattoo design. It looks like this:

Make Sweet Tattoo

You can move your tattoo around the body and scale it as you like. Just prepare it as a “png” image with transparency, upload it, then work on placement. This way, you can get an idea of how the tattoo might look on you.

The body in the design is from the excellent makehuman project.

make sweet valentine

Friday, January 18th, 2008

In preparation for Valentine’s day, we’re expanding our romantic things to do online list. We’ve given some tips for finding unusual reasons to celebrate (including the fooaversary discussion from this blog). For example, for February 14th, why send a boring old Valentine’s greeting when you could send a card celebrating:

  • The first trainload of oranges leaves Los Angeles (February 14, 1886)
  • Edward Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, becomes the first member of the British royal family to ride in an automobile (February 14, 1896)
  • Aretha Franklin tapes “RESPECT” (February 14, 1967)

(facts gathered from the History Channel and Scopesys sites).

Update: we’ve made some sample cards for these alternate valentines.

Harebrained money-making schemes

Saturday, October 27th, 2007
Dear Plonkr, my boyfriend is always coming up with harebrained money-making schemes.  How can I make him stop, or at least direct his energies into more productive channels?  Yours, Wits-ended.

Wits, here is what I suggest.  You start a website devoted to making life a little sweeter, maybe call it “makesweeter.org” or something.  Get your boyfriend involved, perhaps as a guest writer.  Then, earn some money from the site (I’m a little vague on this part of the plan, your Earth economy confuses me).  Then use the money to get your boyfriend enrolled in an economics course, where he’ll learn why his ideas will never work.

If all that fails, I suggest you convince him to borrow short and loan long.  That’s a harebrained scheme too, but at least he’ll be in good company.

The Code Quacker is now bloggable

Sunday, October 7th, 2007

duck-detective.gifIt is now easier to put messages encoded using the code quacker on your blog. When you create your message, there is now some suggested code that you can paste onto a webpage or blog entry. For example:

Your base. All base all. All your all base your. All all all all. All all all. Base all base. Your all. Base all! Your all. Your all your all base your your. All base! All all your? Your base base all base your. Base base all all base base. All base base all? All all! All base all. All base! Base all all base all base! Base all your base all. All your? Base all all all? Base base all all! All base. Base base base. All base? All all all base all all all all all all? Your your all. (decode)

The decode link takes you to the code quacker, passing along the identifier of the paragraph containing the coded message. The quacker then loads your webpage, pulls out the relevant text, and decodes it. Or at least that’s what Brownie and Bozo tell me. I don’t really understand what they are talking about.

more movie mixer scene examples

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

welcome-to-planet-lolcat.jpgBrownie and Bozo have posted a new set of scene examples for the movie mixer. I think they are slowly getting better at using blender, but they’ve still a long way to go. Still, it is a fun journey to watch.

In other news, I’m happy to welcome Plonkr both to our planet and to our little MakeSweet family! I’m sure there will be an initial period of adjustment to our non-homicidal ways, but over time you’ll wonder what you ever saw in acts of unprecedented depravity!

Bozo and Brownie have developed a new template for the MakeSweet Blender. Here’s the example they showed me:

The template gives you control of the appearance of the surface of a planet, and constructs a “mountain range” from words of your choosing. Nifty!

Happy binaversary!

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Last note on this subject - Brownie posted a page explaining the math of binaversaries. He makes a good case for it I think. Basically, counting your age in logarithms makes the passing of the years a lot less stressful. The major drawback I see is that it makes for a lot less cake and presents…

brought to you by the letters G and B

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

free-storage.jpgBrownie and Bozo resurrected an old parody they made some time ago of free web-hosts. Back then they offered “50 MBs free” - the catch being that this was literally true, you had to make your website out of the letters M and B (and at most 50 of them). Since then of course things have moved on and now we offer 500 GBs. Enjoy!
