Make your own generator

MakeSweet is most widely known for its generators of fun pictures and animations. But we can also help you create your own generator, with one of our “GOGs” (Generator of Generators).

What's a generator?

Generators are online tools that let people create fancy graphics from their own text or photos. For example, on MakeSweet we have a “flying flag” generator that puts a photo on an animated flag blowing in the breeze:

See the Generator Blog for examples of generators drawn from all over the web. Normally, to make an online generator, you'd need a very wide skill-set or a team of people. With MakeSweet, one person can do great things, because we move up one level: we have generators of generators (GOGs).

Does this sound like gibberish? Let's review:

A Generator:
(On the web) A service that makes things with parts you supply. For example, a service that makes an animated flag with a picture of your choice on the flag.
Agog:
Full of intense interest or excitement, eager: “kids all agog over new toys.”
A GOG:
A Generator of Generators. A service that makes things that make things.

Is this making sense? Let's get specific.

The Billboard GOG

Make your own billboard generator with our Billboard Generator Generator. Select the border of a billboard in a picture, click a button, and boom you've got a generator that allows you (and others) to put anything at all in that area, with appropriate 3D perspective effects.

Here are some example of user-generated billboards:

The Blender GOG

The technology behind MakeSweet is based on Blender, a popular free 3D design program. For example, our flying flag generator is, at heart, just an ordinary Blender file, makesweet-flag.blend with some special web magic to make things work fast online.

If you know how to use Blender, you can make sophisticated animations or stills and turn them into generators with the help of our Generator Wizard. This is not a fully automatic process, but it gets you started in the right direction.
